Mangrove restoration

Strategic community development organization in partnership with Kenya Forest Sevices, adopted a 15ha of land around Junda creek for mangrove restoration. this is inline with the organizations pillar on climate justice, that focuses to incoporate the community in addressing climate change. The organization has been supported  by the state department for toursism to plant 13ooo mangrove seedlings at the junda creek as per october 2025. The restoration process focuses in restoring the mangrove and improvimg the ecosystem within the coast while in time incoporating economic sustainability means to enable support the community via crab farming and bee keeping, this is to enable the community attain economic sustainability challenging poverty and in the long run address GBV due to poverty.

Tumaini mpya- Jasiri program

Tumaini Mpya is a project that focuses on Women and Girls aged 17 to 34 who are participants of Gender Based Violence in Kisauni, Tumaini Mpya is under the Jasiri program which is funded by Center for Rights Educaton and Awareness.  The project focuses on helping GBV participants through Legal Actions, Skilling and Economic Empowerment.  Participants have a chance to meet counselors and be counselled for their own better well being, participants who will be engaged through skilling will have a chance to learn different skills through TVETs or apprenticeship depending on one owns interest. Legal aid is issued to those who have a difficulty in obtaining legal action, for economic support grants and or loans are to be issued to participants who will be assessed to be supported with the same.  

MYPOA project

MYPOA is a program being run by Stretchers Youth Organization which looks to support the youths in the community through different organizations that work with the youths. We are part of the organizations that were selected to take part in this program, Strategic Community Development Organization, is conducting a teen program that focuses on the mental well being of the teen mothers, three sessions are to be conducted with the teen mothers to help the teen mothers feel belonging to the community and destigmatize early pregnancies. 

Jasiri one

Strategic Community Development Organization, supported several families affected with the 2023 Floods with house hold items to boost their moral.  This support trickled down from Center for Rights Education and Awareness and aimed at supporting families affected with the 2023 floods in kidongo area in Bamburi, the support was a one time and included provision of households to the community members as most had lost their properties and household items

 

Msichana Elimika Jiinue program

The Msichana Elimika Jiinue program, is a program set to empower women to understand their capabilities and fight for opportunities in the society, the program is funded by the She leads movement under KAACR, and is conducted in Shanzu ward where the organization focuses on using gender champions and local female leaders to reach out to the girls and young women in the society and to empower them so that they can be able to understand their strengths and also be in a position to fight for equal opportunities in the society. The project is set to run from December 2023 to April 2024

Prevention of Violence Against Children

Prevention of violence against Children is a project which Strategic Community Development Organization is taking part in with other organizations as a cluster, the other two organizations are candlelight for empowerment and KAACR-the lead organization, the project is funded by Child Rights and Violence Prevention Fund {(CRVPF) an organization in Uganda} ,and its implementation location is in Kanamai where five villages were selected to be the area of focus in Kanamai; this includes Barani, Mabambani, Majengo mapya, Majengo Central and Maweni villages, the project entails educating the parents on positive parenting and the importance of male caregivers engagement in parenting, the Out of School Adolescents(OSAs) and School going children in the same village are also educated on creating a safe environment for all children. The project supports capacity building where two members from each organization have been trained on the 5 modules on positive parenting for parents, safe school environment for teachers and school going children and life skill manuals for the OSAs, the members were trained on all this manuals after which they trained the leaders of the specific groups who in turn train the other members in the society, the organization members were also trained on VSLA under the same project. The project begun in September 2022 to September 2023.

Women Voices and Leadership (WVL)

The women Voices and Leadership (WVL) is a project funded by CREAW Kenya under Care Kenya and Canada. The project was launched on December 2021 and run until April 2023 , its main aim was to focus on the women empowerment and focus on creating gender equality in societies through funding activities and sensitization that will help to achieve the gender equality, the project first cohort however focused more on the capacity building of member organizations, enabling S.C.D.O to be able to attain most of the office stationary and creating its organizational documents and policies, nevertheless, the project met its target through educating of local leaders, Women Girls and Youths to champion for their rights and equality in the society, this was climaxed through the launching of trained gender champions on 23rd of march 2023 who are working within their own community in Utange Shanzu to ensure the rights of women are adhered to as well as gender equality.
